PREVOST, The Ultimate Class

Depending upon the year or configuration of your Prevost, and you have Cruise Airs or Bus Air, you may have a potential difficulty down the road....and this is what it looks like:

What you are looking at is a 270 Amp alternator which is run off your engine.
The difficulty is that running Cruise Airs or Bus Air over the road can create a demand which exceeds 270 Amps, placing maximum load on the alternator; it is in the charging mode all the time.
In some cases, running Cruise Airs or Bus Air with a 270 Amp alternator may cause your batteries to be drawn, in order to secure enough amperage for the air conditioners to work, in as little as 8 hours on the road.
The fix for this situation is a decision on the part of each coach owner:  Either reduce your load from air conditioners or increase the size of your alternator.  Some conversion companies, utilize larger 450 amp alternators or use a belt-driven 6.5K generator to create the additional power requirements needed to operate these larger-consumption units.
The worst-case scenario is this:  If you have Cruise Airs or Bus Air with a 270 amp alternator, you could get yourself into a lot of trouble on a hot day in a place you did not choose to be!
