On the Road with a Prevost!
Horsepower or Horsepower??

Have you ever thought about how your life
has changed by owning a Prevost? Where you go, the people you meet, the fun you
have, the unique friendships you make?
For many years, at least 25 of our 28 years of marriage, my husband Bob has
always wanted a bus. I have always wanted a horse. It wasn’t that I didn’t like
buses, I do. I just liked horses more. I am not sure why but my dream of owning a
horse came true long before Bob’s dream of owning a bus. It must be that “keep
the wife happy” way of thinking. (If Lew is reading this he knows what I am
talking about!)
For over 22 years we have been
raising and enjoying World Champion Morgan show horses. Until three years ago,
we attended horse shows by flying there, renting a car, staying in a hotel
room—the usual method of transportation and comfort. Then one day, Bob said, “I
think I’ll buy a bus”. And he did. I must say when he makes up his mind he goes
for it and not in a small way!
Before I knew it he was off to Florida and driving home a 1997 Prevost Liberty
Lady. It was a beautiful coach and our first road trip took us from our farm in
Landrum, SC., to Oklahoma City, OK to the Morgan Grand National and World
Championship Horse
Show. Our horse friends were excited to have their own party bus and
affectionately dubbed the coach Bob’s Big A** Bus.

We have been fortunate to make friends across the country and around the world through our connection with America’s oldest breed of horse, the American Morgan Horse. Our Prevost gives us a place to invite friends over at a show and just relax and hang out just as though we were at home. Even a wedding shower was scheduled to be held in our coach during a horse show in Lexington, VA. Bob informed me he would have to miss that—ha~!
It wasn’t long before Bob was suffering from MPD, Mad Prevost Disease, at least that was the diagnosis made by Dr. Jeff! Before I knew it, our Liberty had a great new home with Mango Mike and Bob was off to Phoenix. This time he would become well acquainted with a 1999 H3 45 Vantare and how many hours it takes to cross Texas!

And of course our group of horsey friends was waiting for us again in OKC for another fun “BAB” party!
|
While in Oklahoma City, the trip would not have been complete without visiting the tribute memorializing the innocent people who lost their lives in the OKC bombing. Though we found it a very emotional experience I am grateful for the chance to pay respect to the many heroes of that day.
Did I mention that Bob prefers
Prevost’s to horses? Go figure!! Our latest coach is a 2000 Vantare Double
Slide—all the more room for bigger horse show parties so thank you MPD! I guess
I should just be thankful that Jon, Mango, Roger and Jerry didn’t introduce him
to planes!
Of course life traveling in a Prevost isn’t just about horse shows. We have made
treasured new friends through joining POG and attending the first POG rally in
Polk City, Florida. As you can see by the pictures, we are a shy group! POG
folks are very conservative in our sense of style, dancing and gourmet food
service. Come to think of it, they are a lot like our horse show friends!

Whether it is the tanbark of a horse show ring or the asphalt of the highway, Prevost is a "trail" worth taking. Thanks for letting me share a little piece of our life on the road with two kinds of horsepower J Debi, Bob-00 and all the critters of CastleRidge Farm!
Debi Boies and her
husband Bob are members of the Prevost Owners Group. They reside on the
beautiful CastleRidge Farm in Landrum, South Carolina where they breed World Champion
Morgan Horses. Please visit their website at
